Victor Gama is an Angolan composer whose creative process integrates the conception and construction of musical instruments as evolving mediators whose musical identities emerge through a cyclical interaction between digital design, material realisation, symbolic meaning and performative engagement. Through Intrmnts, a series of over twenty original instruments, Gama explores the convergence of traditional knowledge, cosmological frameworks, and contemporary instrument design, revealing how musical creation can embody both historical and technological epistemologies.

His projects draw on long-term artistic investigations that cultivate forms of attention towards traces embedded in landscapes, objects and communities, inviting audiences to encounter histories,memories and systems of knowledge that unfold beyond the scale of immediate human experience.

Gama holds a BSc in Electronics Engineering, an MA in Music Technology from the Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University and a PhD in the Arts at Ghent University and KASK & Conservatorium.

His works have been performed by the Kronos Quartet, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra, and others, and presented at venues including Carnegie Hall NYC, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Casa das Artes Luanda, Centre for the Less Good Idea, Johannesburg and Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin. His Instrmnts exhibition has toured across Africa, Europe, Canada and South America.
