Nathan BUSHIRU

Born in Zimbabwe
Based in Zimbabwe

Nathan Bushiru, originally from Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has been dedicated to photography since 2017. He observes his country’s complex realities, with his camera capturing divisions and enduring beauty from Bukavu to Lubumbashi. His work documents significant structural issues such as rural exodus, changing migration trends, and the lasting marks of historical events.

His photography goes beyond mere documentation by exploring the connections between the Congo’s social, historical, and environmental aspects, while also engaging with his personal and intimate memories. He pays special attention to the legacies of colonialism, themes of absence, and regions impacted by intensive mining. Through compelling visuals and immersive storytelling, Bushiru builds an important modern archive—creating work that isboth poetic and sociological.
