Joseph Kwilemba Kasau, known as Kasau Wa Mambwe, is a Congolese artist and researcher born in 1995 and based in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Self-taught and working across media, he investigates imperialist dispossession and advocates for solidarity. His art creates counternarratives to dominant discourses by deconstructing archives and field evidence through a post-documentary approach that blends documentary and fiction through experimentation and staging. From theater to visual arts, his work explores memory and identity in a postcolonial urban setting.

He views research as a series of fragmented processes that reveal multiple truths, prompting a rethinking of how images and stories shape our view of reality. His focus is on human experiences, environments, and stories, emphasizing power structures and exploring ways to foster unity.

Kasau Wa Mambwe has exhibited work across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. He has participated in numerous international residencies and programs, creating transnational projects that link research, art-making, education and networks of solidarity among artists from Congo and around the world.

In 2024, he established Dispositifs Point Virgule in Lubumbashi, a collaborative space for learning, experimentation, and civic arts projects.
