Soñ Gweha (they/them), born in 1989, is an artist, researcher, DJ, aspiring herbalist, and community organizer working across the Paris suburbs, Vienna, and Cameroon’s coastal regions. Their transdisciplinary practice combines sound, poetry, video, performance, installation, and sculpture through an Afro-feminist, decolonial, ecological, and queer perspective. Under the name SOÑXSEED, they focus on analog DJing, voice, archives, body, textiles, and plant materials, emphasizing intimacy, ecology, spirituality, and Afro-diasporic imaginaries.

A co-founder of Atayé in 2016, they studied at Mod’Art International Paris and earned a master’s in publishing and communication from the University of Cergy. They are currently pursuing a doctorate in the “PhD in Practice” program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, centered on the project A QUIET STORM BLOWIN’. Since 2021, they’ve developed a practice in Afro-diasporic and trans-bioregional herbalism.

In 2026, Soñ Gweha will be in residence at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. Their research has been shaped notably by two stays in Dakar, Senegal, in 2019, during the Raw Academy—especially the 7th session, “Images for Our Time,” organized by Raw Material Company—and by the “École doctorale des Ateliers de la Pensée.”

Their work has been published in Sex Ecologies (MIT Press), Afrikadaa, and Flee. They will be featured in Josèfa Ntjam’s upcoming film, Mbindi, which is competing for the Marcel Duchamp Prize (2026). Their exhibitions include Metro 54 in Amsterdam (2026), Scuola Piccola Zattere in Venice (2025), HKW in Berlin (2025), Smithsonian Museum (2024), Wexner Center for the Arts (2024), Kunstraum Niederoesterreich (2023), Palais de Tokyo (2021 and 2025), Kunsthall Trondheim in Norway (2021), Mumok in Vienna (2022), Museum of Black Civilizations in Dakar, Senegal (2019), Centre Pompidou in Paris (2018), and “La Colonie” by Kader Attia in Paris (2017). They also participated in “Afrocyberféminismes” at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris (2018), co-curated by Oulimata Gey.
