Kris Verdonck is a Belgian director, visual artist, and theater-maker who works at the crossroads of visual arts and theater, combining installation, performance, dance, and architecture. Under the name A Two Dogs Company / Kris Verdonck, he has created works that explore the boundaries between body and machine, as well as presence and absence. His productions have been showcased at events like Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Festival d’Avignon, Kanal – Centre Pompidou, Biennale Musica di Venezia, and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

 His early performative installations, such as IN (2003) and DANCER#1 (2003), addressed themes about the relationship between subject and object, and between human and posthuman. END (2008), which imagines the potential final stage of human society, was performed at Kunstenfestivaldesarts. EXIT (2010) involved hypnotizing the audience into sleep, while UNTITLED (2014) featured a dancer in a mascot suit symbolizing the neoliberal worker. CONVERSATIONS (at the end of the world) (2017), based on Daniil Harms’s life, was shown at both Belgian and Dutch theater festivals and examined humankind’s relationship with technology and its destructive possibilities. In ACT (2020), Johan Leysen performed a monologue that deepened Verdonck’s engagement with Samuel Beckett’s work.

 His recent projects include the street performance EXHAUST (2024), the installation circuit DARK (2025) exploring artificial intelligence and presence, the film DEMO about a lost performer in Brussels (part of WALL TO WALL, 2025), and ongoing collaborations with Ohme Lab on The Garden of the Future and WOODPECKER. His latest piece, PROTOCOL (2026), is a dance performance with live music created with the ICTUS Ensemble; it premiered at Meakusma Festival Eupen and then was staged at KANAL–Centre Pompidou Brussels.
