Joud Toamah is a Syrian artist, designer and researcher based in Belgium whose work spans moving image, installation and printed matter. Drawing on fragmented, fugitive archives and personal and collective memory, she traces political and ecological transformations of the Euphrates basin, working through oral histories, found materials, archival fragments and speculation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and an Advanced Master’s degree in Artistic Research, both from Sint Lucas Antwerpen. She coordinates the Advanced Master of Art and Design Research (AdMa) and co-lectures Islamic Ways of Knowing and Aesthetic Practices with researcher Ruth Loos. Her work has been presented at FOMU Photography Museum (2022), Photoforum Pasquart (2023), Madre Museum and Beyond the Black Box (2026). She is a 2025 grantee of the AFAQ Fund for Visual Arts.
