Carl Kabila, a photographer from Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, quickly became captivated by the distinctive atmosphere of his city’s streets, which mirror its identity as a mining hub. His initial documentary style prompted him to ponder: How can we observe and interpret what we see more effectively? This curiosity inspired his unique method—digital painting. He first captures scenes that stir specific emotions through photography, then translates those feelings into drawings. This approach resulted in his piece: Those the Road Ignores.
